Sydney

Have a smooth flight to Australia, except that during our stop over in aidelaide there was a 'sucurity breach' and because of this we had to re-board twice.

My hostel is great, really big and clean. Talk to some of the people in my room, which was a nice contrast to the lonelinhess of Singapore. It's 27 degrees here, despite the fact that it's winter. It still feels cold in comparison to Singapore, so I can only guess how hot it was over there.

Went to see the Aquarium and the wild life resort today. Was quite expensive, but nice to see all the koala's, sharks and all the fishies :) Then went for a walk through the park, which was REALLY aesthetically pleasing. And now after watching transformers 2 at the hostel, I'm writing this.

Australia is a lot less different then Singapore. It's quite western obviously and I don't feel as though everyone is looking at me, etc. I haven't seen all the pretty sights yet, so can't say that I have a good perspective of the city yet though. It is really expensive here, compared to Singapore (and even home).

Not much else to report. I spend a lot of time thinking actually. I finally have the time and distance to think over a lot of things from back home.

    Je typering van Singapore is behoorlijk raak. Jammer dat ik erop lijk. 'k zal proberen 'n vleugje Amsterdam bij te mengen.

    Sydney is denk ik wel kicken. Die plek waar je die Koalas ziet, was dat aan de overkant van de haven met de veerpont? Wat mij erg aantrok was Darling Harbour, in het centrum. Daar heb je ook een heel mooi maritiem museum vol met gegevens over het vergaan van de Batavia.

    Ik zit hier in Schotland aan de ZW kant. Kunnen niet verdr vanwege storm komende dagen. Overmorgen vliegik naar huis.

    Het lijkt erop dat iedereen mijn beschrijving van Singapore nogal negatief en zelfs eng vond. Vanuit Nederlands perspectief is dat misschien ook niet zo gek. Maar eigenlijk vond ik het lang zo gek niet. Alles is van heel erg hoge kwaliteit en er wordt erg hard voor gewerkt. Vaak slaat het ideaal van vrijheid en creativiteit om tot luiheid en dat is in Singapore zeker niet het geval (en bij Papa ook niet :P). Zolang mensen niet verlicht zijn, hebben ze nou eenmaal regels nodig. Ik denk ook wel dat er Singapore een veel sterker idee is van een 'common goal' dan in Nederland. Hun motto is ook 'onward Singapore!' en daar lijkt iedereen het mee eens te zijn :)

    Ja, ik wil vandaag naar Darling harbour gaan. Morgen denk ik de wandeling of tour per boot van de rest van Sydney Harbour. Het maritiem museum heb ik wel gezien maar nog niet binnen geweest.
