Sydney days!

25 augustus 2009 - Sydney, Australië

I went to the maritime museum. It was free! Except going on all the ships, but some random guy gave me his ticket, so then that was free too. I especially enjoyed the stories about the naval cruisers that went by the name of HMAS Sydney (I would later see the last rendition of this lineage of ships in the harbour! (check my pictures)).

I meet a Korean girl in my room, who starts frantically talking to me (in the accent that I keep impersonating :P). After a while she asks: "you have girlfriends?? I think you have girlfriends! Can I take picture??" After which we proceed to take a picture together. Made me feel like Justin Timberlake for a second. And if that wasn't enough, later while I was sitting at the computers.. the girl next to me goes "I just have to say that I like your perfume", to which I respond that I'm not wearing any :P I found this somewhat odd. Later while I'm in the elevator there's a girl with really strong perfume, so I go "I like your perfume", kinda cuz I thought it was like the thing to say in this hostel apparently :P She said "thanx".

I'm listing all the social encounters here, which are still few btw (there's literally no one in the other 5 beds in my room). So I'm at Kentucky Fried Chicken and they're in some kind of hurry, but I can't make any sense out of the menu. So I go "do you have ANYTHING non spicey? like a wrap or something?", she proceeds "well there's this, no wait also this and that, but don't forget this". In fear that she'll go on forever I, at some random point go: "yeah that one, I want that one". She starts listing all these options "do you want this? do you want that?" I can't really understand her accent and I really don't care, so I keep just saying "yes", "no", "yes". At the end of this epic ordering process I go "wow, this is going to be the most arbitrary wrap ever haha", she laughs with me luckily. It was an okay wrap.

So today I did A LOT of sightseeing. Also walked like 20 miles, because I refuse to buy buss tickets, because this place is already really expensive. I finally got to see the opera house and bridge! To get there you have to walk through a beautiful park and I vividly remember the point when I came around the bend and start to see the bridge. It is a truly awesome sight to see. I uploaded pictures. Then I went on a boat cruise of the whole harbour, absolutely stunning. I really like how the habitat blends with the architecture. They're also really good at making cool scenery with lawns and those weird trees of theirs.

After I find this guy playing on a didgeridoo with some trance beat in the background, sounded quite awesome. There's videos of me totally rockin out to the sounds of beauty escaping from his instrument.

Oh, the day before this, I also go to work out, which was way expensive, so I'm not doing that again. But it was good to get my body moving. It was a really nice gym too.

Also having been reading more in my zen book (almost finished). It's really making me think. It's one of those, 'when you're ready, the teacher will emerge' things. I think it describes exactly what I was beginning to think myself.
